The Island Manse, Scotland - 2017
On a small island in Scotland we found this beautiful building. The previous owner had died ans the property was up for sale with the bank trying to recoup some money.
We loved the property so much that we made an offer in October, only to find out at the end of December that the bank had chose another offer!
Designed by John Loban of Stornoway, 1814 -16 The former manse is a comparatively grand Georgian house which, like its twin on another Scottish isle, has a tall nepus gable over the central bay and lower, flanking domestic offices. Restored later in the 19th century, when dormers and storm porch were added.
